Skill Development Program on Advance Machining / Advance Welding From 11th - 29th March 2019

 

Realizing the importance of linking economic development with the human resource and the need to create opportunities, space and scope for the development of the talents of the Indian youth, CSIR-IMMT is contributing to the CSIR Skill Initiative by initiating Skill Development programs. Apart from other program, emphasis is being given on specialized courses related to Advance Machining and Advance Welding thereby enhancing/upgrading the skill level to cater the need of the industry.

Central Workshop, CSIR-IMMT, Bhubaneswar is conducting a Certificate Course in “Advance Machining / Advance Welding” under CSIR Integrated Skill Initiative programme from 11th-29th March 2019 starting on 11/03/2019. The training programme was inaugurated by Dr. Swati Mohanty, Head, HRD, Dr. P.C. Beuria, HOD, Workshop, Dr. S.K. Pradhan, Skill Development Coordinator and Mr. R.K Mandal, In-charge, Workshop of CSIR-IMMT Bhubaneswar. Students from different ITIs/Engineering schools are participating in the above course. The duration of the above programme is 03 weeks (11th March-29th March-2019).

The Central Mechanical Workshop of CSIR-Institute of Minerals & Materials Technology is well equipped with different modern and state of the art machinery like Conventional Lathe m/c, Milling m/c, Surface Grinder m/c, Shaping m/c, Radial drilling m/c, CNC Lathe, CNC Milling and CNC EDM m/c to carter different R&D requirement of the Scientists. All the machinery are supported by well trained technical manpower and advance CAD & CAM software are used to carry out precision works.

The main objective of this program is to translate the knowledge of Mechanical Workshop technology covering advance mechanical machine tools (CNC Turning/CNC Milling/Wire EDM) and advance welding operations such as TIG, MIG; Sport welding, Plasma cutting etc. to enhance the skills of the trainees and entrepreneurship development. More thrust will be imparted on practical hands on training (20% theory and 80% practical with hands on practical exposure to different machinery). The main objective of this program is to enhance/upgrade the skill the youths in such a way that they can get employment and enhance entrepreneurship quality amongst them.
