Skill Development Program on Advanced Training On Analytical Techniques And Laboratory (4th - 8th February 2019)

 A five days Training Program on "Advanced Training on Analytical Techniques and Laboratory Methods (ATL-1)" was organized by Department of Hydro and Electrometallurgy, CSIR-IMMT Bhubaneswar from 04th to 8th Feb 2019. The program was organized under the CSIR Integrated Skill Initiative Program. There were 23 participants from all over India with Chemistry, Physics, and environmental science background. Resource persons from the CSIR-IMMT, NIT Rourkela, Utkal University and other sister laboratories of CSIR delivered lectures and participated in the deliberations. About eight sessions were held with hands-on experience training on different analytical instruments. Visits to different labs of CSIR-IMMT were organized for the participants. In the inaugural session Er Santosh Ku Mishra, chief scientist welcomed the participants and encouraged them to take maximum benefit of the course. He also thanked all the members who were involved in conducting ATL-1 programs. Dr.S.K. Pradhan, the Skill development program coordinator, gave an introduction to the course and mentioned about the various guidelines of Scientific development. Dr. Mamata Mohapatra, senior scientist, introduced the topics and objectives of the course. She elaborated that the course provides theoretical and practical knowledge about laboratory method of analysis on ores/minerals and their derivative products with modern analytical instruments. She also explained that the improved and enhanced skills for handling modern analytical instruments and the basic process of treatment of mineral waste through hydrometallurgical operation are helpful in their R&D career. The team of resource persons taught the skills and methodologies of analyzing the samples using different analytical equipments such as UV, AAS, ICP, XRD, TG-DTA, and electroanalytical techniques, etc.
