Refresher Course on Technological Advancement in Mines, Minerals and Metals for Executives and Working Professionals (TAMMM-2018) From 22th - 26th October 2018

 

Refresher Course on Technological Advancement in Mines, Minerals and Metals for Executives and Working Professionals was jointly organized by CSIR Institute of Minerals and Materials Technology, Bhubaneswar, The Indian Institute of Metals, Bhubaneswar Chapter and Mineral Engineering association of India, Bhubaneswar Sukinda Chapter during 22nd-26th Oct.- 2018 at Hotel Suryansh, Bhubaneswar. At the outset Dr. R. Bhima Rao, Chairman IIM, Bhubaneswar Chapter welcome the participants and introduced the course work. The function was inaugurated by Prof. Suddhasatwa Basu, Director, CSIR-IMMT, Bhubaneswar. In his inaugural speech he addressed the overall problems of 4M (Mining, Minerals, Metals and Materials) industries. He had also talked about R&D activities of CSIR-IMMT, Bhubaneswar in this area. Mr. S. Patni Vice President IMFA, Mining also addressed the gathering and discussed about the importance and relevance of the course work for the industry people.. This function was concluded with vote of thanks by Dr. A.K. Chaubey, Principal Scientist, CSIR-IMMT and Convener of the event.

There were around 20 participants from different industries namely Tata Steel, Nalco, IMFA, UCIL and Auto tech who were participated in the refresher course programme. There were 20 talks from all 4M areas, delivered by experts from R&D as well as and Industries. Areas covered was quite diverse covering from mining, mineral processing to material development. The entire programme designed in such a way that first half was technical lecture followed by laboratory visit in the second half to have hands on experience of working of different equipment. One day there was industrial visit to Sukinda to demonstrate the functioning of mining activities in the areas.

Concluding session was chaired by Dr. S.K. Tamotia, Ex-CMD, NALCO, Bhubaneswar. The entire four days programme was appreciated by all the participants form various industries. They stressed upon the importance of such type of course work and suggested for organising frequently to acquaint with the latest development in the respective area.
