International Women’s Day celebrations at CSIR-IMMT
CSIR-IMMT has celebrated the International Women’s Day on 8th March 2017. In this regard, women employees of the institute have conducted competitions on versification/poem writing, quotes writing, extempore speech, and poster competition among the students and staff
International Women’s day (8th March 2017) was used as an opportunity to amplify discussions over gender parity in daily life, workplace , and in society. They organised group discussion with Mrs. Smruti Priyadarshini, Women Entrepreneur, Bhubaeswar and a talk by Dr. Uma Pattanaik, Medical Officer, CSIR-IMMT on Health aspects of Women
Around 135 women employees of institute that includes scientists, administrative staff, students, trainees gathered for a get together lunch. The retired women employees were felicitated in recognition of their service to the institute.
During the valedictory meeting, they arranged a popular talk by Sahitya Academy Yuva puraskar winner Dr.(Mrs) Gayatribala Panda, a well known Odia poet, fiction writer, literary critic and a journalist. Shri Santosh Kumar Mishra, acting director of CSIR-IMMT and Dr M G Sujana, Principal scientist were present along with the guest on the dais. Ms. Anuskhya Acharya, a national level badminton champion from Odisha, was felicitated in recognition of her outstanding achievements in the sport of badminton at National level deaf games and they wished all success for her future endeavours. To mark their support and encouragement for the education of girl child, the women staff at CSIR-IMMT have also honoured girl toppers of class 6th, 7th and 8th from RRL, project school, followed by prize distribution to the winners of the various competitions.
