Vigilance Awareness Week from 26th October to 31st October, 2015.

As per the Central Vigilance Commission instructions as issued vide Ref. No.1015/VGL/065/293536 dated 31.8.2015, CSIR-IMMT, Bhubaneswar observed the “Vigilance Awareness Week” from 26th to 31st October, 2015.

Observance of the week began with display of prominently written banners at important locations in the Institute premises. In this connection different activities were taken up during this period.

On 26th October, 2015 at 11.00 a.m., Prof. B.K. Mishra, Director of the Institute administered pledge to all the Staff-members.

On 28th October, 2015, Debate competition among Class-XI & XII students from different Schools/Jr. Colleges in Bhubaneswar as well as the wards of staff-members was organized. Seven schools represented in the Debate competition.

The topic of the debate was, “शिक्षा प्रणाली भ्रष्टाrचार को रोकने का एक महत्वoपूर्ण साधन है।” “The Education System is an Important Tool for Mitigating Corruption”. Most of the students spoke in favour of the motion while a few spoke against. Participation of the students in the competition was overwhelming. The debate was very lively and interesting. It was witnessed by all the staff members, teachers, students and their parents.

On 29th October, 2015, an Essay competition (bilingual) among staff-members, Fellows/PAs and students was organized. The topic of the debate was, “सतर्कता मुक्तs समाज की कल्पgना” “IMAGINING VIGILANCE FREE SOCIETY”. Participation of the Staff in the competition was encouraging.

On 29th October, 2015, Debate competition among the Staff-members/Fellows/PAs & students of the Institute was arranged. The topic of the debate was, “सीएसआइआर ने उच्चu स्तgरीय मानव संसाधन को विकसित करने में बेहतर परिवेश प्रदान किया है” । “CSIR has stimulating Environment to promote High Quality Human Resources”. Participation of the staff-members and students in the Debate was enthusiastic. The debate was very competitive and thought provoking. Most of the participants opined that the CSIR has good environment to promote high quality human resources. It was witnessed by staff members, Fellows, PAs and students.

On this occasion, Quotes were received from different departments and displayed on the notice board. Our Purchase Department, Accounts, Administrations, other departments, staff-members & students had participated. One of the quotations has been adjudged as the best among the quotations that were displayed, viz; “Love Profession and Leave Corruption.”

Valedictory & Prize Distribution Function was organized on 30th October, 2015. Prof. S. N. Misra, former Director, (Finance), in DRDO, presently holding the position of Director, School of Leadership, KIIT University, Bhubaneswar was the Chief Guest of the function.

Prof B.K. Mishra, Director, CSIR-IMMT, Bhubaneswar presided over the meeting, introduced the chief guest and shared his views with the audience. With his experience as a civil servant for 36years, he has worked in the World Bank Division, in DRDO and other institutions. He shared his thought of working with our former President “late Dr. A.P.J Abul Kalam” in bringing out transparency in public procurement.

The Chief Guest delivered a thought provoking lecture on “Effective use of the modern Technology for Preventive Vigilance” to all the staff-members and guests. He emphasized that transparency is the hallmark of public vigilance and said that vigilance is not only relates to money it encompasses all spheres of public life.

Sh B.D. Mahalik, Administrative Officer-cum-Vigilance Officer of CSIR-IMMT, BBSR addressed the audience. Sh. Mahalik outlined the transparent operational standards followed in our institute while disposing of any business.

Dr.(Ms) Pratima Kumari Mishra, Chairperson, Vigilance Awareness Committee shared her thought about preventive vigilance and good governance. In her opinion, under the existing rules and regulations with high order of integrity and ethics in any profession, one can certainly help in preventive vigilance for good governance. She focused on efficiency and accountability.

Prizes were distributed to the winners of different competitions by the Director, Prof. B.K. Mishra as well as the Chief Guest.

The meeting ended with Vote-of-Thanks by Shri R.K. Dash, S.O.E.I and Convenor of the Vigilance Awareness Committee. He thanked all the dignitaries on the dias and all those committee members, staff-members and all the judges of the organized activities, all the HoDs, all the participants in the competitions, all the winners, all the staff-members who have direct or indirect help and cooperation particularly the staff of E-I Section and other colleages from Administration in making the function successful.
