 International seminar on Emerging Materials and Processes

International seminar on Emerging Materials and Processes (ICEMP-2014) was inaugurated at CSIR-Institute of Minerals and Materials Technology (IMMT), Bhubaneswar today (26th February 2014). The event is organized by CSIR-IMMT for three days (26th to 28th February 2014) with the objective to share knowledge and exchange views for the benefit of industries in the country. This mega event brings rare opportunity for scientists, industrialists and product manufactures to reshape the Golden Triangle of sustainable development and growth of material based industries by the adoption of profitable, energy efficient, zero waste and eco-friendly technologies and drawing a road map for the future.

Padma Shri Dr. Srikumar Banerjee, Former Chairman, Atomic Energy Commission, New Delhi inaugurated the seminar, as chief guest, in CSIR-IMMT auditorium at 10:00 AM today (26th February) in presence of Prof. B.K. Mishra, Director, CSIR-IMMT and Chairman, ICEMP-2014 and Dr. B.B. Jha, Chief Scientist, CSIR-IMMI and Convener of the event. Chief Guest also gave a golden jubilee lecture on the topic “Laser Material Processing”. During the talk he presented in detail the various processing techniques base on laser application.

Earlier, addressing the delegates, Prof. B.K. Mishra, Director, CSIR-IMMT said that CSIR-IMMT is committed to address impending issues of Indian industry taking the advantage of world standard scientific expertise at CSIR-IMMT and being located at eastern region of the nation. He also introduced the Chief Guest. The Guests released the seminar souvenir and full paper proceeding volume.

Over 20 equipments and product manufactures from India have opened their stalls to exhibit product information. 250 delegates from India and from abroad are attending the seminar. 23 invited lectures will be delivered by eminent scientists and industrialists drawn from IIT’s, IISC and various other renowned institutes. In total 168 research papers covering various aspects of materials engineering will be presented by researchers from all over India in the coming three days. Representatives from industries of odisha and research students have also attended the seminar.
